The Governor's Program on Abstinence has embarked on an ambitious plan to teach an abstinence/health class to seventh graders throughout Louisiana beginning in Fall 2001. The curriculum is designed to be taught one hour a week for twelve weeks, and, in accordance with Louisiana state statute (Title 17, Section 281), the course will be taught with the approval of the local school boards in existing Health and P.E. classes.
